project manager

location: Fort Wayne, Indiana

As a project manager at bmdg, you will manage projects that foster deep relationships with our agency’s clients. This role is the gatekeeper for communications to and from the internal team / client and has ultimate responsibility for delivering projects that are on brand, within budget, and that exceed expectations. This role works cross-functionally with many teams across the organization, including design, accounting, finance, traffic, and digital. As an agency, we have capabilities in print design, photo direction and styling, digital marketing, copy writing, product development, package design, video production, and interactive design. Prior experience working in a marketing or agency environment a plus.

essential duties and responsibilities

  • Manage projects, schedules, budgets, SOW, and internal/external communications with Sr. Account team and Traffic Manager
  • Working with Sr. Account team, manage the project process from strategy to creative to execution using BMDG’s processes and tools
  • Review all BMDG deliverables to ensure that they are on brand, within budget, and meet client needs prior to sending for client review
  • Organize external and internal briefing sessions to ensure that project team members (creative, design, and execution) are clear on objectives, roles, and deliverables
  • Organize internal meetings as necessary to ensure that project team members are on track to deliver on brand, on time, and on budget
  • Communicate project scope, budget, and project calendar to creative team
  • Establish and maintain a management framework that allows for visibility into account-team performance on client projects
  • Participate in project pricing and estimating as requested
  • When required, prepare proposals for new projects (based on the relationship with client, this may require preparing formal service agreements and scope-of-work statements)
  • Manage client expectations throughout the project-development and execution process, which involves, but is not limited to, thoughtful and timely communication of deviations from cost estimates and/or situations impacting the ability to meet client timelines
  • Responsible for final client project invoice analysis, presenting to Sr. Account team or CFO for approval
  • With Sr. Account team, coordinate debrief sessions with the project team to celebrate successes and to identify opportunities for process improvement
  • Create purchase orders as needed
  • Manage vendor relationships involved with projects
  • Represent a professional and positive image of BMDG toward all staff, clients, and vendors

education and experience requirements


  • 2-plus years’ experience in advertising and marketing
  • Associate degree required, bachelor’s degree preferred, with an emphasis in any of the following areas: administration, marketing, public relations, business, communications, or liberal arts
  • Prior agency experience a plus

  • Is detail oriented, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
  • Has excellent organization and follow-through skills
  • Demonstrates exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Possesses strong Mac skills, utilizing Microsoft Office, Excel, and Project Management software
